Ex-offenders & Homelessness - an introduction

Course Aims & Objectives:

This is a practical course that will provide practitioners with an introduction to Homelessness law and the specific legislation relating to Ex-Offenders. Throughout the course delegates will learn about legislation, policy & the practical applications of these within their role. Practitioners will leave with an effective toolkit of strategies that will enable them to successfully navigate the maze of housing legislation & Ex-Offenders.

  • Homeless Legislation and the Code of Guidance – What rights do Ex Offenders have?
  • Assessing Eligibility
  • Duties
  • What next? – Where to go for assistance
  • Review and appeals
  • An overview of national schemes & good practice
  • Strategies for building effective links with external organisations

Duration:

1 or 2 day options

Suitable for:

YOT Practitioners whose job requires them to have a basic knowledge of Homeless Law, Statutory or voluntary staff working with Ex-Offender clients with housing need.
