Personal Safety at Work

For all practitioners working directly with young people and members of the public who need to manage their personal safety effectively

Course Aims

This training course will equip practitioners with the skills to:

  • Recognise risk and manage their own role accordingly
  • Plan & organise work to minimise risks to personal safety
  • Identify and adopt practical ways of protecting their personal safety at work

Course Content

This course will cover:

  • The legislation
  • Assessment of risk to personal safety – being aware
  • Recognising threats
  • Body language – verbal & none verbal cues
  • Minimising personal safety risks
  • Lone working & off site visits
  • Managing conflict & dealing with aggression
  • None injurious breakaway techniques
  • Organisational reporting procedures – when & how?

Who is it for?

All practitioners with a delivery role involving young people. This course includes material relevant to NVQ Level 3 & 4.
